The first Jag was actually a motorcycle sidecar, built in 1922 by the Swallow Sidecar Co, or SS for short. It was 1935 before SS launched its first car, the SS Jaguar 2.5 litre saloon. ‘SS’ had bad wartime connotations by 1945, so the company chose to be simply known as Jaguar. With the phenomenal XK120, XK150 and of course the iconic E-Type, Jaguar became ever-synonymous with amazing sports cars and to-die-for styling.
