£12,000 budget for a Landrover Discover with 7 seats

Hi there,

We have 4 children and therefore looking for a large vehicle. Ideally something like a Hyundai i800 however I doubt we'd be able to raise the finance for such a vehicle as looking online we'd need around £12,000 so our alternative is to go for a 7 seater car. I would really like to purchase an old style Landrover Discovery 2 as they have plenty of space and in our price range! We can pay around £280 per month over 4 years with excellent credit history and have £1000 deposit. However, as the vehicle is an old one, you tend to find more being sold by private sellers on AutoTrader.

Do these sellers come under your 'reputable dealerships' heading or do you only provide finance when buying from main dealers such as Arnold Clark?

Many thanks.

Answer

Hi there,

If you wish to purchase an older vehicle the majority of our lenders require that the car is no older than 10 years at the end of the agreement. However, if you have a good credit history we do have a few lenders who can finance cars that will be 12 years old at the end of the agreement.

With our hire purchase agreements, the lenders will ask for applicants to choose a car from a reputable dealership in the UK – and cannot finance a private sale. We do, however, have the option of persona loans, whereby the funds can be used as you wish – and so can finance a private sale from places such as Auto Trader.

As you have excellent credit history and a good idea of what you need can spend each month, we will try our best to help you get need. The deposit will certainly help your application too. Once approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can get a car from any dealer in the UK. Please make an application when you're ready. Rachel
