People planning on taking out Car Loans for a new vehicle this year may want to consider a Ford Fiesta, after the model's recent success in a motoring poll.

Amid some of the most impressive supercars on the market, the vehicle clinched eighth spot in MSN's Car of the Year 2009 survey.

First place was secured by Nissan's GT-R, with the Jaguar XF coming second, closely followed by the Ferrari California.

Thousands of people took part in the survey and MSN content manager Tom Evans said the record number of participants shows just how important great cars are to drivers in the UK.

He stated: "This is clearly demonstrated as over 80,000 people voted for their top motors, more than doubling the number of votes of last year's poll."

Meanwhile, a previous poll by MSN found - when given the choice of a range of gadgets - car buyers were most likely to opt for adaptive cruise control or night vision.
