More motorists in the UK may be tempted to take out Car Loans for the new Ford Fiesta after the vehicle's success at a recent competition.

The model has been awarded a red dot award by Germany's Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen - one of the biggest design recognition initiatives in the world.

An independent jury looked at all 3,231 entries for the 2009 event and assessed them on criteria including functionality, quality and innovation.

The Fiesta received its red dot accolade for outstanding design.

Martin Smith from Ford of Europe said the honour was particularly important to the company.

He explained: "Research shows that whether they are in Milan, Beijing or New York, customers put style at the top of their list.

"The new Fiesta delivers that style, together with outstanding quality."

In other news, Ford recently won another award when it was named manufacturer of the year at the Fleet News honours.

The Fiesta, Kuga and S-MAX also received accolades from the publication.
