Recent statistics have revealed the company topped the sales chart for low CO2 autos in 2008.

Indeed, one in every six cars sold in Europe with emissions of less than 121 g/km last year was a Peugeot.

Christian Stein, marketing director with the firm, said: "We are delighted to be comprehensively leading the green race, with the benefit of lower running costs for our customers."

In other news, the Peugeot 308 CC is due to arrive in showrooms across the UK from the beginning of June.
