Future problems for car finance buyers

08 July 2010

With analogue TV eventually leaving us, so will analogue radio. Your favourite FM and AM radio stations will no longer be available via the usual means. And it will effectively mean Car Finance and cash buyers of new motors today will be left a bit short in their wallets.

Drivers will have to fork out for expensive DAB radio upgrades to continue to listen to their usual stations. The switchover is due to commence in around five years, so there’s no reason to panic just yet. However, according to the experts, the upgrades will cost from £100 to £300.
Earlier this year the communications committee released a report, which gave caution to the digital switchover.

It said: 'We recommend that the Government, in collaboration with the manufacturers, should provide guidance to the public on in-car digital listening, including advice on conversion kits available and likely to be available within the timeframe of digital switchover.'
