When you are Britain’s newest car manufacturer raising finances would usually be a struggle. Not so this time. Because McLaren Automotive is the road car outfit spawned out of the McLaren Formula 1 giants’ loins. The new company is even run by the ex-team principle for McLaren’s F1 team, Ron Dennis.

Talking to The Sunday Telegraph, the legendary Dennis spoke of the confirmed £260m of new finance that the company needed to acquire to complete its new business venture.

The McLaren MP4-12C will be the marques first official car, and it’s a real minger. Okay, you caught us, we’re lying. In reality, it’s pretty much a guaranteed success for the Woking based team, and if McLaren’s current success on the race track is anything to go by, then this outfit will be just fine.

Dennis stated: "The big thing about this car – because people have different perceptions about the aesthetics of sports cars – is how it drives. There is nothing like it. I can say that with a degree of certainty now because we are approaching a million miles of testing and endless developments. It is going very well."
