Honda to end Type-R production as finances to build a Euro V version takes shape

The Honda Civic Type-R is a bit of a rare breed in hot-hatch-ville.  It’s naturally aspirated 2.0-litre; 198bhp i-Vtec engine is one that has received great praise from enthusiasts and journalists alike. However, that head-whirling 8000 rpm redline means that in a few months, the Type-R will no longer be legal for those pesky Euro people.

Yep, the Type-R is being killed off because of emissions. Honda is set to raise its finances and create a new Type-R that will meet Euro V emission regulations. Could this be the end of our naturally aspirated petrol Type-R? Will there be a hybrid motor in the next version? Let’s hope not.
