Is it possible to give car finance to a non UK resident?

Hello, i am not from the UK but i will move there in a month. Is it possible for you to give a car finance to me as i am an EU resident (and a student/ part time worker)?

Hi Lia, unfortunately you wouldn't be able to obtain car finance straight away as all of our lenders look for some form of credit history & traceability on all customers before lending any money. My advice to you would be to get on the voters roll as soon as you have a place to live in the UK (you can do this with your local council). My next piece of advice would be to open a UK registered bank account and get a contract mobile phone. You'll need the bank account first though. Maybe try and get a small credit card with say a £500 limit on also from your bank and make sure you always pay at least the minimum payment each month to keep your credit profile looking healthy. A monthly direct debit usually stops people forgetting to make their payments. I hope i've helped you out. Kind Regards, Louis

Hello Edwin, I have lived in the UK for less than 2 years. When I initially moved here I lived at my first address for a brief period of 4 months and I am living in my current address for about 1.5 years. My credit record is very clean and my score is also good (around 740). I am full time professional and I earn more than £3K per month. Please, can you advise my chances of getting a guaranteed car loan? Thanks

I have lived in the UK for just over 2.5 years. I have permanent residency and I have been in my current job for 2 years and one month. I did not have a job in the UK previous to my current job. I have had my bank account for 2.5 years. I am an American citizen and I am not eligible to register on the electoral roll. I have lived at 5 different addresses since I have moved here. Please can you advise where my best bet is to get finance for a car? My bank have already declined me as well. Many Thanks.

Hi Theresa, as you're not on the electoral roll this may cause a few issues as lenders like to see traceability. However the fact that you're in full time employment is a good thing. How is your credit history? Other than your bank account what other credit do you have? Lastly, how long are you planning on staying in the UK and do you have a UK driving licence? Kind Regards, Edwin

I have one other bank account that I have had since September 2011 and I have one credit card with a £260 limit. I plan to live in the UK for quite a while (at least five more years) and I do have a UK driving licence. Many thanks. Theresa

Hi Theresa, thank you for your feedback. Please make an application as we should be able to help you from what you have said although we can't guarantee an acceptance. Have you applied anywhere else? If so, can you let us know where as we don't want to duplicate searches etc. Regards, Edwin

Hello, I've been a resident in the UK for 7 Months. I have a permanent job that pays £4000 a month. I have a bank account, a credit card, a number of utilities in my name. I'm supposed to appear on the electoral roll this month (May). I'm looking for buy a used car in the range of £10-14k. I can get an upfront deposit of up to £6000 or £7000 pounds. Is it really impossible to get finance for something like this? I've recently been rejected by Perrys.co.uk

Hi Rajesh, yes we should be able to get you a car loan with no problems due to the fact that your credit history in the UK is good. On the application on our website just place 3 years for your current time at address. Are you on the electoral roll and do you have a deposit? Regards, Edwin
