I have a very bad credit rating including several CCJ's. Can i get car loans?

I have a very bad credit rating including several CCJs and have not been at my address for very long. However, I have not had any CCJ's for the last 7 months and am now in a steady job - can you help?

Posted by Mrs Singh on

Answer.

Hi Mrs Singh, thank you for your question.

There is a possibility we can help get you accepted as we have many lenders on our panel who help people with CCJ's. As long as you have a UK licence and can prove your income that'd obviously help our chances.

Lenders do like to see intent to pay off any defaults / CCJs etc - so if you are beginning to make inroads on that front, and register your name at your current address on the electoral roll, we should be able to get you approved for a car loan.

Alternatively, we may be able to get an approval easier if you have a guarantor / joint applicant who has a better credit history than yourself - is this possible? Either way please make an application when you're ready and if approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer in the UK. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hello, is it worth me applying if i have had a ccj in the past 6 months and a default against my name? Many thanks

Posted by Stuart on

Question.

Hi! I'm 20 years old and have had a CCJ in the past however, I have been in my job for 4 years and earn around £1000 a month. Would I be able to get car finance?

Posted by Jack E on

Question.

Hi, i have had a poor credit history in the past and in May this year my one and only CCJ will be removed from my credit file. Am i likely to be accepted for car finance after this date and if so, up to what value? Thanks for any advice?

Posted by Tim on

Answer.

Hi Stuart, sincere apologies for the late reply. We can help customers who have had CCJ's and defaults in the past but it all depends upon the amount of the CCJ & default. Can you let me know the amounts and whether they have been cleared yet? Kind Regards, Edwin

Posted by on

Answer.

Hi Jack, your age will go against you and the fact that you have already had a CCJ against your name isn't a great thing. The only real way to get approved would be if you had a large deposit or if you could get a friend or family member to act as a guarantor - is that possible? Kind Regards, Edwin

Posted by on

Answer.

Hi Tim, yes - we should be able to get you approved for car finance even if your CCJ remains on your credit profile. When did you get the CCJ and how much was it for? We do have lenders who help people with current CCJ's and those who have had them in the past. Realistically we'd be able to get you approved for £5000 to £6000 however, if you have a large deposit we could get you more. Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi Edwin, my credit rating is probably very low and I have one CCJ. However, I started work 8 months ago as a Retail Manager (all wage slips present) after a period of self employment. I am looking for a loan of £5,000 for a second hand car which is a few years old for commuting to work as the car I have now is 12 years old. Can you help? Many thanks, Mike

Posted by Mike Pearson on

Answer.

Hi Mike, thank you for your question. We do help people with poor / bad credit profiles but without you making an application for us to see your credit profile i can't give you a guaranteed answer. Needless to say though that if we can't help you will really struggle as we have access to all the UK's bad credit car loan lenders. The great news is that you are now in full time employment - this certainly helps your situation. Are you on the electoral roll and will you be using your part ex as a deposit? If we get you approved the £5000 you require won't be an issue at all so fingers crossed. I look forward to seeing your application. Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hello, i am 36 years old and have lived in the UK all my life. I moved to my current address 7 years ago and am on the electrol roll. I am on about £17,000 a year net profit through my self employment. Since moving to my address 7 years ago we have had major problems. My post is delivered as an overtime route so we either don't get post, it gets lost or it's late so i received 2 CCJ's which i knew nothing about until i was looking at my credit file one day. Once i had noticed these i had paid them straight away and obviously disputed this with royal mail which is still ongoing. I then incurred another CCJ by someone i refused to pay as they didn't do the job i paid a lot of money for them to do. Never the less these CCJ's are paid and in total are under £1000. One, in fact has just been removed from my credit file. My credit file is also showing 2 months late on my mortgage. I can confirm this is not the case, my payment date has been changed without my knowledge but it is up to date it just wasn't paid on time through no fault of my own. What are my chances in your honest opinion of getting finance, is it worth even trying? I am looking for about £7000 to £8000 for a Mondeo. Many Thanks

Posted by Thomas on

Answer.

Hi Thomas, thank you for your question and apologies for the delayed response. As your CCJ's total under £1000 there is a good chance that we can help. Do you have any current credit agreements that are up to date and paid on time as this will help your cause? Also, do you have a deposit or part exchange that you can place into the deal? If so, how much? If we can get you approved the £6000 you're looking for shouldn't be an issue but i can't give a definitive answer as all our lenders have different criteria. But, in my mind it would be worth applying. Just don't apply at lots of different places as the more searches you have against your name the worse your credit score will be. Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi, i have a low credit score mainly because i have never had any debt, have no loans or credit cards but have 1 CCJ that was paid immediately on finding out. I own my own business and have have substantial equity in my home. I'm after a loan of £33k over 3 or 4 years and so you know i earn £4500 per month. My low credit score appears to be affecting my application because i can show no history of making payments - only my mortage !

Posted by S Smith on

Answer.

Hi S. Smith, Apologies for the delayed response. We'll only be able to secure you the funds you require if you can stump up a large deposit of approx £3000 to £4000. Is this possible or do you have a part exchange to this value? Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me and yes I can put a deposit down of £3000 or £4000.

Answer.

Great news, please apply and let me know when you have done so. I'll then get our manager Alex to look at your application. Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi there, about 18 months ago I got a CCJ taken out against me. However, this is fully resolved now. Because i was out of work for a couple of months i took out a credit card which i missed payments for, but this is also fully paid off now. I am looking to buy a car for work and money isn't so much of an issue as it used to be. I wanted to put a deposit of around £2500 and finance of about £7000. Is there any way you can help me? Even advice would be appreciated. Many thanks, Clive

Posted by Clive Jackson on

Answer.

Hi Clive, thank you for your question. The good news is that your issues have now been resolved and the fact that you're in employment and have a £2500 deposit helps massively too. We should, in theory, be able to get you approved but can't promise anything until we've run a credit search and sent your application to the lenders we think will match your credit profile. Looking forward to receiving your application though. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Just asking to see whether I've a chance of getting finance for a car. My credit score is 498 and I do have a ccj which will be up in 3 years but I did recently get accepted for a credit card.

Posted by Alicia on

Answer.

Hi Alicia, there is every possibility of getting car finance for you as we specialise in helping those who have a less than perfect past. Do you have a deposit or part exchange as that always helps strengthen your application? Are you on the electoral roll and can you prove your income? If yes, then please apply and we'll try and match you to a lender that meets your circumstances. Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hello, we are desperate for a new car as we regularly have to take our daughter to hospital which is 26 miles away. The problem is is that neither me or my partner have brilliant credit. We both have CCJ's which are currently being paid. We want the chance to be able to improve our credit and I understand that your company helps people with poor credit. We are looking for a loan of around £10,000 so we can have a more reliable car to take us on our many journeys to hospital. Our joint income is approx £2,500 per month. Your help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Posted by Daniel on

Answer.

Hi Daniel, we do help clients like yourself with CCJ's get approved for finance as long as none of the CCJ's are over £5000. Are your CCJ's small or large. Also who has the better credit out of yourself and your wife and who earns the most? If one has a better credit profile and income than the other i'd be tempted to just say that you or your wife apply. Also if we get you approved the £10,000 may be a struggle without a £1500 to £2000 deposit. Do you have a part ex or cash deposit? Please check your credit profiles and then apply once you know who has the better chance of being approved. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

After a break up and being left in debt I have 2 ccj's and am currently going through a debt management plan. I have a child but work full time and need a new car. I have a £600 deposit. Is there a chance of getting car finance?

Posted by Kirsty on

Answer.

Hi Kirsty, we'd love to help you out and the fact that you have a £600 deposit is great news. We do help people who have had CCJ's in the past so we remain confident. Please apply and we'll go from there :-)

Question.

Hi, i am wanting to know if i could get car finance for about £8000. My credit rating is 712 and i am in full time employment, am on the electrol roll and have an active bank account. On my credit file i do have a CCJ which at the moment is being looked into regarding PPI that i wasn't allowed to use, so it was mis-sold, i am paying the payments. I now owe about £700 on this, i do have a car to part exchange but it's probably only worth about £500 if that helps.

Posted by Philip on

Answer.

Hi Philip, your credit score seems decent so getting you approved for £8000 hopefully won't be an issue and your part ex worth £500 will certainly help as it shows commitment from yourself. Please apply and we'll see which lender best suits your circumstances. Edwin

Question.

Hi there, I just want to know if I can apply for a car loan with a ccj? I have had two defaults in the past which have been fully paid off. I have an orange cotract in my name for £90 a month and i have never missed a payment for the past 3 years. I also have a catalogue account with a payment never missed. My problem is a school fees which I was owing and now they have taken me to the county court and unfortunately I now have a ccj on my name which is the only bad thing on my credit record which has eventually destroyed it. I am in full time employment and willing to put down a £2000 deposit. Is there any chance of me getting a car loan?

Posted by Femi on

Answer.

Hi Femi, with a £2000 deposit we should be able to get you approved with no problems at all as we have lenders that help people with CCJ's etc. Do you have a UK driving licence and are you currently on the electoral register? If so, please apply and we'll try our best to get you accepted. Kind Regards, Edwin :-)

Question.

Hi, I currently have car finance and am looking to upgrade. Since i took out the finance i have a CCJ and have credit card plans in place. The CCJ was for £3288 and is paid monthly without fail. My current car finance is £130.15 a month and never gets missed. Would you be able to assist in paying off the old finance and taking out a new plan?? Thanks.

Posted by Andy on

Answer.

Hi Andy, yes - we'd be able to help. If approved (we help people that have had CCJ's in the past) we could take your current car off you and settle the existing finance whilst getting you into a new car. Obviously any equity you have in your current car can be used as a deposit. If you're in negative equity we can still help you out so don't worry too much if that is the case :-). Please apply when you're ready and you'll have a decision within a few working hours. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi there, I am 31 years old, have lived at my current address for 5 years, only have one CCJ for about £150, but I am paying this off bit by bit each month. I have 3 mail order catalogues and 2 credit cards where they may have sometimes been paid late in the past due to previous circumstances but are now paid on time now. I have car finance that I have just paid off, the car I have I could use as a deposit, it's worth around £1,000 - £1200. Is there a chance I would get accepted for finance on a vehicle for £9,500? I earn £18000 pa. Many thanks, Tanya

Posted by Tanya on

Answer.

Hi Tanya, with a £1500 deposit you we should be able to get you approved for the £8000 that you need. Can you get the extra £300 cash required? If so please apply when you're ready as i have one lender in mind that should be able to help as you tick a lot of the required boxes with what you have said :-)

Question.

Hi Edwin, My credit history is poor due to my uni days. However i've really made an effort and cleared all my debts. I have one ccj that was no fault of mine. It was paid late by an insurance company, it's marked as satisfied and has been on my file since 12/12/2006 though this should be coming off very soon. I have another ccj for £2011 that's just appeared which i have no idea about and currently in talks with the court to have this set aside. My average monthly income is £1500 and I have been working as an engineer with same firm for the past 4 years. I'm after around £7-8k for a new car & i also have a px worth around £2500/3000. Can you help or should i wait until both ccj's are dealt with. Thanks :)

Posted by Fraz on

Answer.

Hi Fraz, even though you have 2 CCJ's (one which is quite old) I'm confident we can help as you have a large deposit in your part exchange and you earn a good wage. Are you on the electoral roll and are your current credit agreements up to date? Edwin

Posted by on

Question.

Hi Edwin, yes all my current agreements are up to date. I don't owe any money apart from my uni student loan which is getting paid off monthly. I have DD's that are paid on time all the time and i've never missed any payments, i have cleared all my other debts in March this year and am making progrees with the other ccj for £2011. The courts have sent me a form to fill in to have it removed as i had good grounds to challenge it.

Posted by Fraz on

Question.

Yes - i'm also on the electoral roll. Thanks again.

Answer.

Thanks Fraz, please apply when you're ready. Edwin

Question.

Hi Edwin, been approved just need to call up and give bit more info, that's fine, however can i not choose my own vehicle from another seller or can i only choose the vehicles you guys have as the ones i like seem to be too much, for £8k i can get a nice car from a private seller. Can you not just finance me the money for my own choice? Thanks

Posted by Fraz on

Answer.

Hi Fraz, if we don't have anything for you then you can choose your car from any reputable dealership. Cars cannot be financed from private individuals though. So you can either let us locate a vehicle for you to sell or you can go to a local dealership :-)

Question.

Hi, i am 37 with an income of £41000 per year after taxes and a credit score of 966 on credit expert. I would like to get a loan of approximately £20000 for a used car. I have european driving license and i am on the electoral roll. What deposit do you suggest me to put down in order to be accepted without any doubt and to have a good APR? Also would you suggest me to exchange my EU driving license to a british one before applying for the loan? Does it affect the credit score or the probability of being accepted for the loan? Many thanks for your help. Regards

Posted by Roberto on

Answer.

Hi Roberto, for a loan of £20,000 i'd advise a 20% deposit of £4000. A 15% deposit of £3000 should be ok though if you don't have the £4000. It seems like you have a very high credit score so a rate of 8% to 10% would be achievable. Your EU licence doesn't effect whether you'll be approved or not and we have lenders that approve people with EU licences so please apply with us when you feel you're ready to do so. Regards, Edwin

Posted by on

Question.

Many thanks for the reply Edwin. I have no problem to put a deposit of 4000 or even more if that is necessary. The only thing i don't like particularly in the service you offer is that you choose the car for me. Is it possible that i choose my car and then we go ahead with the loan? Regards

Question.

Hi Edwin. I have a credit rating of 775 points on Experian. A 5.5 year old £100 CCJ and wanted a car loan of £6000 over 2 years. I have a full UK license and a £1500 deposit too, but a German Passport! Could you help please? Many thanks.

Posted by Andreas Kaparidis on

Answer.

Hi Roberto, apologies for the delayed response. Yes that is possible (so you can choose your own car) but it depends upon the lender you get approved with. Please see vehicles for sale on our website and you'll see they are superb examples and prepared to retail standard. You wouldn't have to commit without seeing the car. Thanks, Edwin

Posted by on

Answer.

Hi Andreas, as you're CCJ is very old and only for a small amount i wouldn't let that bother you too much. If approved we'd be able to get you the money you need as you have a large deposit. The good news is that you have a UK licence. Are you employed and on the electoral roll?

Posted by Natasha Kelly on

Question.

Hi there, I have a CCJ which has been paid and should come off my file next November (ive been told they stay for 6 years). Is there any possibility of me receiving finance or would finding someone as a guarantor be the only way for me to be successful? I've got a good job, good wage but it's just my score that is holding me back. Any help would be appreciated.

Posted by Rachel on

Answer.

Hi Natasha, with only one CCJ that has been cleared now and a large deposit of £4500 i'm more than confident that we can get you the £5000 that you need. Please make an application when you get 2-3 minutes. Kind Regards, Edwin

Hi Rachel, with only one CCJ that has been cleared we should be able to get you approved on your own. Do you have a deposit and are you on the electoral roll at your current address? Is your current credit up to date payment wise too? If so, please make an application asap :-)

Question.

Hi, I am currently weighing up my options as i am looking at changing my car early next year. I am due to finish paying my 1 and only CCJ in September, then i will be completely debt free. I then aim to save around £1600 by January next year, and would also like to trade in my car for about £700. I am in full time employment and earn £1200 a month. I would like to borrow about £2000 but i won't have a guarantor, would your company be able to get me approved, or should i just try and continue saving? I don't have any credit cards etc, just my utility bills that get paid monthly without fail by direct debit. Can you advise me please?

Posted by Stacey on

Answer.

Hi Stacey, when January next year comes as you'll have a large deposit and a good income i'm confident we'll be able to get you approved for the £2000 that you need. Just make sure that you're on the electoral register at your current address and keep any accounts that you have up to date payment wise and you shouldn't have any problems. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi Edwin, my current credit situation is not ideal, six years back I got a CCJ and although this has now been removed and my credit score is around 900 I'm struggling to get approved for credit. I currently have credit with Ford Credit and have made all my repayments on time for the last 2 years. I approached Ford Credit to help finance a newer car but they turned me down? I earn in excess of £40K per year and would like a new car. I am 30 years old and have previously been told that because of my age I cannot use a guarantor. Is this correct? Please help, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Edwin

Posted by Paul on

Answer.

Hi Paul, as you have a decent credit score and a good income we'll be able to get you approved for car finance and the lenders we deal with will take into account that your CCJ was over 5 years ago now. You won't need a guarantor to be honest. Do you have a deposit and are you on the electoral roll? Edwin

Question.

I currently have an experian credit rating of 730 and earn £27000 a year. I have a historic CCJ which is almost 6 years old but do have a credit card which is in good order. Would I be likely to get finance for £5000 with my history? I'm worried about applying and getting refused and damaging my credit rating again.

Posted by Tom on

Answer.

Hi Tom, apologies for the delayed response. As your CCJ was 6 years ago i wouldn't think that's stop you from getting car finance as you have a good income and some clean active credit history. All in all i think we'd be able to get you £5000 with no problems. Please apply when you get 2-3 mins and let me know your reference number. Thank you :-)

hi, yes i am a permanent employee and have either a part ex or can sell that for the cash to put as the deposit. I was declined for acf finance so unsure if you can, i would say alot of my financial stuff was longer then 6 years ago, but i do not know where to go to see if i have other ccj's that i am unaware of. I do have an account with a lender for furniture and house equipment and have around £3500 in things i have had in credit due to paying more then i should and never missing a payment? Hi, i have a poor credit history, an unpaid ccj from the last 2 years for £250 and i am self-employed. I want to buy a £9000 car. I can use my existing car worth (£1-2k) as part exchange and a deposit of £5000. Can i get a car loan for the difference? Kind Regards, Adrian

Hi Adrian, as you have such a large deposit and due to the fact that your CCJ was over 2 years ago and was for a small amount i'm confident we can get you the £4000 approx that you need without many issues. Are you on the electoral roll and do you have any current clean credit profiles? Lastly, as you're self employed we'd need to see 3 months bank statements proving your earnings. I hope that's ok - i look forward to receiving your application. Edwin

Hi edwin, i got into a lot of debt when i was 22ish and got 4 ccj's unfortunately due to losing my job. I'm 29 now and there all gone off my credit file as of february. I earn £35000 a year. I've been employed full time for the past 3 years. I also have a credit card for the past 4 months which is used regulary and always paid off. Question.

I have a few CCJ's and have had poor credit for a while. I am now in full time employment and have been for 2 years making payments to my arrears on my mortgage but know the defaults have still affected my rating dramatically. I pick up between £600 and £1100 per week but as I say cannot get credit anywhere. Payments aren't a problem but need £11000 to purchase my new car can you help?

Posted by Michael on

Hi Michael, if you need £11,000 and have poor credit you'll need a £1500 deposit approx. Can you make this up with cash or a part ex? Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi again Edwin, I have got £1500 if needed but again my credit file is abysmal. I have been unable to secure finance elsewhere and believe it can only be worse now by trying too many companies. If it was based on my current incomes/expenditures I don't think it would be a problem. Do you know of any that do this? I would be able to get a guarantor if needed but as I say even the companies which say bad credit accepted seem to turn me away with or without guarantor. I will be able to provide all payslips etc but find that any credit check will be rejected is there anything you can do?

Hi Michael, where have you applied online and been turned down? This will give me a better idea of whether we can help or not.

Hi, I have an experian credit rating of 821 which says 'fair'. I've had a ccj recently which i paid in full. I've also recently been refused credit on car finance elsewhere, is it still worth applying? Thanks.

Posted by Pete on

Answer.

Hi Pete, yes it is still worth applying as we can get people passed even though they have had CCJs in the past. Where did you apply and get refused? You do have a fair score so i'm confident we can help as long as you're on the electoral roll and can prove your income. Please apply when you're ready.

Question.

Hi, i've just had a look at my credit report and i have a fair score. This is due to 2 CCJs 3 yrs ago which is paid. One is still showing outstanding but its also been paid. I have £9000 in available credit as shown on my credit report, i've never missed a mortgage payment or anything else apart from a phone contract which is in dispute now over data roaming. I earn £65000 a year and own 2 properties. Is there any way you can help?

Posted by Chad on

Answer.

Hi Chad, as you have a large income and a fair credit score i'm confident we can get you approved even though you have past CCJ's. Please apply when you get a few spare minutes and you'll have a decision very quickly. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi I had a bad credit history and have a few problems on my credit file. I had a car in 2008 which I didn't pay due to it being faulty but I have started paying it now. I have two credit Cards and am unemployed due to being disabled can you help

Posted by John on

Answer.

Hi John, Here at carfinance247 we deal with the majority of lenders on the market, some of which will lend to people who are not working due to being disabled as long as you are receiving permanent disability living allowance and can provide proof of this. With regards to your previous vehicle agreement, this does not necessarily affect your chances of gaining finance as long as you are showing that you are paying it back now as this shows intent to the lenders. It would definitely be worth making an application so we can see how we can help you. Kind Regards, Edwin :)

Question.

i found out my credit score and its 295 can u still help?

Posted by John on

Answer.

Hi John, It is difficult to say without seeing an application. It would be worth applying so our underwriters can assess your credit profile and circumstances and do their best to secure an approval. We do however deal with most of the lenders on the market and have previously managed to secure customers in similar situations to yourself an approval. Kind Regards Edwin

Question.

Hi, I currently have a car on finance. I believe the car is worth around £5k and I have been given a settlement of £5300. My credit rating is poor because of stupidity when I was a bit younger and i believe it is in the low 300's. I'm in full time employment earning £1000 a month. I want to try and get finance on a car ? . What would be the chances of swapping my current car for a smaller/cheaper car when I have such poor credit?

Posted by Dan on

Answer.

Hi Dan, Ok firstly I suggest that you go and get your car valued at a reputable dealer as you may be able to get the £5300 you require to settle the finance. However if it is less than the settlement figure we can look to tie the negative equity up into a new deal on a different vehicle. Your credit score isn't too bad and believe me we have seen much worse and been able to help! Please make an application so we can see how we can help. Thanks, Edwin

Hi i have a CCJ from 5 years back and another from 3 years back. total amount owing on them is £600. I have a deposit of £2000 and an income of £35k. Whats the chances of acceptance? thanks

Posted by Adam on

Answer.

Hi Adan, We should be able to get you approved for car finance even if your CCJ remains on your credit profile. We do work with a number of lenders who help people with outstanding CCJ's. With regards to the amount to finance the lenders I would be looking to try and get you accepted with will lend up to a maximum of £10-£25k however you may need a deposit. Regards, Edwin

Question.

Thanks As stated in the previous email i have a deposit of over £2000 so although small i do have a deposit. Who or what number should i contact to get the ball rolling? thanks

Posted by Adam on

Answer.

Hi again Adam. Depending on how well priced the vehicle is £2k should be more than enough deposit! Please make an application online or call 0161 247 0810 and one of our advisors will take an application over the phone. Thanks, Edwin

Question.

Hi Edwin, I was hoping to be able to pick up a used moped to help save money on travelling to and from work in the city. I do have a current outstanding CCJ from many years for some loans I defaulted on. I earn £1300/month after tax and was looking to spend about £2k max on a bike, I have roughly £700 cash deposit too. Would I be able to apply for used car insurance? Thanks

Posted by D on

Answer.

Hi there, absolutely! we deal with a few lenders who will finance motorbikes etc. You just need to put an application in so we can have a closer look at your credit profile and hopefully place you with an appropriate lender. Thanks Edwin

Question.

My credit file isn't perfect having 2 CCJs which are both under £1k. I also have 3 defaults. I'm in full time employment for past 3 years and paying all my bills up to date and own my own house for last 10 years. Could I be eligible for a car loan?

Posted by Mark Townsend on

Answer.

Hi Mark, it is definitely a possibility however you would need to make an application so we can take a closer look at your credit profile. It will definitely help if your accounts are being kept up to date and your defaults are reducing. Please make an application when you have 5 minutes. Thanks Edwin

Question.

Hi, i have a ccj for 1600 from 5 years ago but i have satisfied it about 3 years ago. All of my other accounts are up to date and in the green, including my phone contract, credit cards and catalogue bar one which is a loan from 5 years ago which I defaulted on and it hasnt been satisfied. As you can tell most of my issues are from over 5 years ago and everything i have had on credit in the past 2-3 years have been paid on time. Will i be able to get car finance as my credit file on experian still shows me as having a poor credit score. I also have been in my job for almost 4 years and have a salary of 28000 Thanks in advance craig

Posted by Craig on

Answer.

Hi Craig, Thank you for your question and I apologise for the late response. The good news is we should definitely be able to place you with one of our lenders. It is clear from what you are telling me that you are trying to improve your credit profile. Are you registered on the electoral roll at your current address as this will help yet it is not essential. Please make an application when you are ready so we can see how we can help. Edwin

Question.

Hi, I am looking for car finance but have already had one refusal and dont want to keep applying and ruining my chances of getting credit any more. I have a 2005 Ford Transit van, 69000 miles, which I'm looking to PX for a family vehicle of around 8000. However, having checked my credit score with Equifax, although my score is fair (761), I have one CCJ on there for £8944, which has been raised by my ex husbands father, out of spite! Would you be able to help me at all, or is the CCJ going to ruin any chance of credit? I work p/t and have lived at my current address for 2yrs 8months, prev address 7 years. I have a credit card and store cards, all of which have been paid on time each month. many thanks. Elaine

Posted by Elaine on

Answer.

Hi Elaine, A CCJ won't necessarily prevent you from obtaining finance as long as any credit accounts you have are being paid. The main issue I can see is that you are part time. Many lenders require customers to be in full time employment. However we do deal with lenders who would consider you. You would need to make an application so we can see how we can help. Thanks, Edwin

Question.

Hi there, I have one CCJ from 2009 that was £7500 that is now paid off. I also have 5 defaults that are all paid off. What are my chances of being accepted? I am on the electrol role. I earn £23000 per year. I have not had any defaults in the last two years. What are my chances of being accepted?

Answer.

Hi Mark, from what you say I believe that you have a good chance of being accepted with one of our lenders as you are clearly showing intent to improve your credit profile. Please make an application when you can, Thanks Edwin

Question.

I am looking to apply for car finance so ordered my credit file before applying as I did have some problems a few years ago. Turns out I have an outstanding CCJ at a previous address that is still active. I am going to clear this but I know this will stop me from getting car finance. Will I still be able to apply if I have a guarantor or will my partner need to get the finance in his name, with me as a named driver?

Posted by Gemma on

Answer.

Hi Gemma, Don't panic! Having an outstanding CCJ doesn't necessarily mean you will be declined for car finance. It does make things a little more difficult as you are seen as a higher risk to lenders, but as long as your are keeping up to date on your accounts you should be fine. If you can I would put through a joint application with someone as this usually strengthens the application. I hope this helps, Edwin

Question.

Hi, I have 2 CCJ's on my credit file, 1 has been paid off and the other I am paying monthly and have never missed a payment this is for around £8k, I have a few defaults in the past but these have been paid. My credit file is showing red and warning. Will I be wasting my time applying for a car loan of between £5-6K, I have a part ex for deposit, many thanks in advance.

Question.

Hi, I am after a car loan of around £40k, I have my own business which has been established 3 years now which I take a £45k salary, I have a few defaults on my credit file, at the minute I'm going through a mortgage application which has been agreed in principal but my question is if I apply for car finance too could this affect my mortgage?

Posted by C Travis on

Answer.

Hi C Travis, if you have already been approved for a mortgage in principal applying for a car loan will not effect the approval you have in place. However, a £40k car loan is a large amount. What % deposit would you have? Edwin

Question.

Hello, I had a CCJ in 2009 (I forgot to tell a solicitors i had moved and they kept posted a bill to that address). The amount was £200. I paid it off within 1 month of it being raised so was settled in 2009. It still shows on my credit profile and marks my score down to around 600.

I have letters from the solicitors stating that the CCJ was raised by mistake and that it was their fault, although the court still won't remove it from my file. Would I be able to obtain credit?

Posted by Seth Pierce on

Answer.

Hi Seth, thank you for using the Q&A.

You do have a slightly below average credit score in 600 but i'm confident we could help as long as you are employed, have a UK licence and have some current clean credit history.

We do have lenders that help people with CCJ's get approved for car finance and as a piece of advice you can actually contact Experian and place a note of the letter you have received on your credit profile so lenders can see this was in error.

Please apply asap and once accepted we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi there, i'm after advice on whether i'll be accepted for finance or not. The bad points on my credit profile are as follows: I have lots of defaults - £7000 on a loan, credit cards at £400, £1250, £2000 and £2500. Payday loans at £270, £500 and one that was £300 but they want £1200!! Also, a catalogue at £400 and a bank account I closed but they want £300 too.

The better bits are that i have been employed for 4 months, I have no CCJ's or bankruptcy on my file, i have nearly 8 years at same address and registered to vote, my utilities, SKY, car insurance, mobile and current bank account are all perfect. i had a previous car finance agreement from Billing Finance that went wrong but got settled (they touted for business so I tested them with what I am looking for, they said no). My current wage is £215 per week after tax plus £39 per week tax credits. I have been employed by an agency with a possible permanent position available.

The defaults are from my unemployment in August 2012 to October 2013. They haven't been paid yet as I have concentrated on priority debts like council tax and that will be clear in 5-6 weeks (£150 left to pay of this year's). Once they are cleared I will focus on sorting the defaults.

The car I am after is a Vauxhall Insignia, a 58-60 plate with up to 90000 miles and £7000 cost max. Currently, I have a £350 deposit rising weekly which should be double come the end of March with possible CPP compensation to add which if I get it would take the pot to £1000. Hopefully with another £2000 if my partner gets her PPI refund. Part of me wants to wait until the job goes permanent as on the last car I was 5 months into an 18 month deal when I lost my job.

My question is do I stand a chance and if I do what sort of deposit would I need to get the £7000?

Posted by Mike Smith on

Answer.

Hi Mike, thank you for your in-depth question!

From what you have said we'd find it difficult, but not impossible to secure you car finance. The good things are that you are employed, have a decent deposit and have a stable residential history with electoral roll status. I also take it that you have a full UK licence?

The obvious stumbling blocks are your recent defaults and outstanding debts. Lenders also don't shed a good light on people taking out payday loans however, we shall try our best with our current lending panel to get you an acceptance. If approved the £1000 deposit is more than enough for a £7000 car.

I shall leave the decision in your court as to when you wish to apply but when you're ready please make an application here and once approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer in the UK. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi, I am wondering if you can help me. I have a poor credit rating as shown on my Experian credit report, have a CCJ which is 2 years old and two defaults on my credit account at very low values.

I will have the two defaults paid off within the next 2 months. I have lived at my address for the past year and recently put myself on the electoral roll register, but it is yet to be updated onto my Experian account. I do not have a phone contract and my only source of credit is an I-pad that I only got last month.

Other than this I have not had any applications for credit nor been refused credit for a long time. I am fully employed by the water board with a very secure job and can prove my income. I can also afford a vehicle of around £250/£350 a month.

Please can you help me, I do not want to try my luck and apply willy nilly as refusals will make my credit rating even further!

I'm assuming it will be more beneficial to me to wait until both defaults are paid off as the combination of this, I-pad payments x3 and the electoral role register updated can only strengthen my credit score? Appreciate any help, Thanks!

Posted by Luke Rose on

Answer.

Hi Luke, thank you for your in-depth question and it certainly seems like you're trying your best to clean up your credit history which is great news!

Firstly, we do have lenders that approve people for car finance even though they have past defaults and CCJ's however, if you're not in a mad rush for a car it will make sense to clear the defaults and get on the electoral register before applying to increase your chances.

When you're ready to apply i'm confident we could help as you have a good income, stable job and residential history and some current clean credit.

Please make an application when you're ready and once approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer in the UK. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

HI, I'm looking for a loan at £7495 and will be part ex for a value of £750 offered to me, so would require £6745 to make the transaction.

I have a high credit score on credit expert (over 700) but a poor score on Equifax (203). There is a CCJ on my profile which is due to be removed in 6 months for the value of (£1500) which was paid off as soon as i was aware. Would i get the full £6745 needed, and do you only approve on a certain age or mileage of a vehicle - i.e age restriction or mileage restriction?

I don't wish to just apply and find out that i cant since it will affect my credit rating. Thanks

Posted by Ben on

Answer.

Hi Ben, thank you for your question.

As you have a larged eposit in your part ex, a fair credit score and the fact that your CCJ has been settled i'm confident that we can get you accepted for the amount you need.

We will need to see proof of income though as this dictates how much you can borrow. Regarding the restrictions on vehicle criteria this is also determined by the lender. Typically the car can't have done over 100,000 miles and can't be older than 10 years at the end of the agreement.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Edwin
