I am on Jobseekers Allowance, Can I Get Car Finance?

Hi Rachel, my mum and dad wouldn't be an option as they both have poor credit ratings. The only option would be my brother. He is 21, in employment, has a bank account and currently has a loan that has he has maintained payments on. I wouldn't be looking to take out anything more than £3000, but as I am unemployed I don't have a deposit.

Income related questions

Hi, I'm 20 and looking to get a car in finance, ideally an Audi A1. I am currently a student and in my student overdraft of £1500 and struggling to get out of this at the moment. I have no idea what my credit rating would be but I am wondering if I would

Asked by Abigail M
May 29, 2012

Dear Abigail, thank you for your question.

As far as I’m aware, with most banks a student overdraft doesn’t affect your credit rating. Usually you have a few years to pay this off post graduation before it impacts upon anything, so on that front you may be ok. When you say you pay all of your direct debits on time, does this include a mobile phone contract? Do you have a bank account? Also, are you on the electoral roll? If so these things will help us to find you an approval.

If you are concerned, or do not fit the criteria outlined above, you could always apply with a guarantor. This is likely to increase your chances of approval. The guarantor must have lived in the UK for 3+ years, be a home owner, and have excellent credit.

Please make an application when you're ready and if approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi, I'm Disabled and have been for over 17 years. I receive £1763.56 a month in various benefits. My award is for life. I've been offered 2 loans both for £4000 over 4 years. BUT I believe they are related to Mr Robin Hood, why? Because the both want OVE

Asked by Kim Turner
May 29, 2012

Hi Kim, thank you for your question. There are indeed finance companies that accept disabled people who receive benefits as their sole form of income. Who are the 2 companies you have applied with to receive the high rates of interest? Have you tried with your bank? As you have a bank account and 2 credit cards you have some credit history which is great. The rate you usually receive is determined by your credit rating. Have you checked this lately or have you missed any payments in the past? If not, we'll be able to help you and as we have many lenders on our panel i'm confident we'd get you a good rate. However, as previously stated this all depends upon your past credit. Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi Billy, thanks for your question. As you have a deposit, are on the electoral roll, have a UK bank account and can use your father as a guarantor we do have a chance of getting you approved for £3000. Please make a joint application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hello, If I apply for finance and get approved do I have to buy a car from you or can I buy from other dealers or a private people? I would like to borrow around £8000. Is it possible to get approved if my credit score in the fair category (750 on Experia

Asked by Gabriella
May 29, 2012

Hi Gabriella, than you for your detailed question and for using our Q&A. With a credit score of 750 i am confident we can get you approved for car finance without a guarantor however, adding one onto your application would strengthen your chances. The only issue i can foresee is the £8000 that you require. I'm not saying that we can't get you the £8000 but £5000 to £6000 may be more realistic. If however, you have a deposit or part exchange to place into the deal we may well be able to secure you the funds required. When approved you can indeed buy a car from any dealer in the UK and we provide a no obligation quote. The only thing holding us back is the fact that you're not currently receiving a wage from your employer. Some finance companies need to see proof of income & employment to go ahead with the deal and others don't so i'm just hoping that we can get you approved with a good credit lender who won't require proof of income. Please make an application when you feel ready. Kind Regards, Rachel

I earn 6 figures but I take a minimum wage and dividends. I have a CCJ satisfied in 2011, 3 defaulted accounts which are also satisfied in 2011. I went through a bad patch. I am on electoral roll and have an accountant. I have a BMW 525 to P/X (bought 200

Hi Felix, apologies for the delayed response. We do have lenders that can help those with poor credit histories with finance, so we would be hopeful that we could help. In regards to the rate that you will receive if approved, this will be determined by the lender we can get you accepted with. What is your part ex worth (approx) and how much are you looking to finance? As you take dividends we'd need your accountant to write a letter to confirm your earnings. You are on the electoral roll which will help too. Please make an application and if approved, you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. I am on income support, i have a drivers licence, but i'm only 18 so, i don't exactly have a proper credit rating as i haven't had chance to build it up. Would there still be a possibility of me getting a car on finance?

Asked by Netalia Nottingham
May 29, 2012

Hi Netalia, thank you for your question.

We do have lenders on our panel who help people on income support and those with little credit history. As long as you have a UK bank account there is a chance we can help. If you had someone to apply alongside too that'd help our chances.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel
