I have bad credit & need car finance. I also have a part exchange. Can you help?

Hi, I have bad credit but I do have a car on finance at the moment. My car is an Astra 56 plate and is worth £2000 however, I got knocked back for finance & I need a bigger car. How can I go about this? Can my partner go for the finance in her name but she doesn't have a licence? Chris

Hi Chris, your partner couldn't apply as she doesn't have a driving licence. Where did you apply and what was the reason they gave for turning you down? If we can get you approved we can take your part exchange off you. Regards, Rachel

Hi, I am 20 years of age and I am looking at getting my first car. I need to finance about £6000, have a deposit of £500. I earn a fixed income which can be proved with bank statements. My credit rating is poor but that's because I've never

Hi Edward, thank you for your question.

You’re in a tricky situation because to get credit you need to have a credit check carried out. All i can say is that i’m confident we could help as you are employed, have a deposit and don’t have any bad credit as such. I take it you’re on the electoral roll and have a full UK licence?

If so, please make an application and once approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer in the UK. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi, I am looking for some car finance as I need a new car ASAP however, I have a bad credit history. I don't have any CCJ's, but I do have a default on my account. I managed to get a mobile phone contract last year. However, I am a student,

Hi Annabel, thank you for your question.

As you have a part time job and only require a small balance i'm confident we can get you accepted. The fact that you have no CCJ's is good news and we do have lenders that help people with past defaults.

Please make an application and once approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer in the UK. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi Rachel, Unfortunately, I have been refused a car loan through my bank and i have no idea why! It's very frustrating but i need to start looking at other options. My credit history is ok and i have a reasonable deposit. Can you help me get car finance?

Asked by Mary
April 30, 2012

Hi Mary, thank you for your question.

In short we may be able to get you accepted. The decision really all depends upon your personal credit circumstances and income though. We do have many lenders who specialise in helping customers that have been turned down in the past so we do have a reasonable chance. As a business a large proportion of the people we help have suffered past credit issues. So, as long as you are employed, have some form of current credit and have a driving licence i can't envisage any major problems. The fact that you have a fair credit score and a deposit obviously helps matters.

Please make an application online when you're ready and if approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi, I've recently purchased (drove off the fore court yesterday) a new car. For no reason other than my own guilt at throwing £270 a month at a car, I'm looking at my options around returning the vehicle. I don't want to cancel the finance agreement if it

Hi John, thank you for your question. With your finance agreement, there is a 14 day cooling off period, so you should contact your finance provider to discuss this, and they should be able to cancel the agreement for you. With regards to returning the vehicle, if you bought the car in person from a dealership, the likelihood is that you have already signed the vehicle order form (this is a contract to buy the vehicle), so technically the dealership is not obliged to take your car back. Hello, i have recently got credit through 1st response to obtain a motorbike. I am having no problems with my payments with them but i still have a bad credit rating. Would it be possible to still gain car finance?

Asked by David Smith
April 30, 2012

Hi David, thank you for your question. If i’m honest it would be highly unlikely that First Response would give you another loan on top of the motorbike finance agreement.

However, there is a chance that one of our other lenders may be able to help. Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. There’s no guarantee of an approval at this stage but we’ll certainly try our best to help. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi Michael, thank you for your question.

As long as you are employed, can prove your income and have a UK driving licence i'm confident we can help as you have a clean recent credit history.

We do have lenders on our panel that help people with past credit issues get car finance. We also have to carry out a credit search to see if we can get you approved but the good news is that our searches aren't visible to lenders on your credit profile. If we think we can help we'll then propose you to a suitable lender. At this point they will carry out a full credit search.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi Chloe, thank you or your question.

As you have such a large income i’m confident that we can get you the Range Rover you want but, as your credit score is poor you will need a large deposit of 15% - 20%? So, £7,500 to £10,000. We do have lenders that help people with bad credit and we do have to carry out a minimum of 1 credit check on your profile to get you approved.

If the above deposit is possible, please make an application and once approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer in the UK. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi Paula, thank you for your question. Did you obtain the finance through ourselves? If so and you are still within the 14 day cooling off period, you would be able to cancel the finance deal with us. If you have signed the order form at the dealership, however, technically the dealership isn't obliged to take the car back unfortunately. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi Aaron. Unfortunately when you send a second application to a finance company they will re-search you which can actually lower your credit score thus potentially resulting in a decline. However we do deal with most lenders on the market and dependant upon your credit profile we should be able to help you. Please make an application so we can see how we can help. Thanks, Rachel
