Car finance for housewife

Hello Rachel, I am a housewife and my partner was made bankrupt a year ago but he is the only earner. Can we get finance in my name even though i have poor credit?

Lindsey

Answer

Hi Lindsey, thank you for using our Q&A.

We can help housewife's get car finance but this is a tricky situation if i'm honest. If you had good credit it wouldn't be an issue but, as you say you have poor credit the lenders we use will look for proof of income - as you have none they wouldn't approve you on your own unfortunately.

The only chance to get approved is to make a joint application with your husband as the main applicant as he's the one earning a wage.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi, I'm Runa, I'm a housewife and really need a car to take kids school, do shopping and get around.

I was thinking about financing a car with my husband jointly. I have got a poor credit rating and so does my husband, plus I'm unemployed and on benefits. My husbands only working full-time. Would i still be able to get a joint car finance with my husband anyhow?

Answer

Hi Runa, thank you for your question.

It would be wise to make a joint application with your husband as we'd struggle to get you approved on your own as you're a housewife with poor credit.

We do have poor credit lenders but they only finance people who are employed. Put your husband down as the first applicant on the application and place yourself as the 2nd applicant and you can act as a guarantor. Thank you

Hi, I have just put a deposit down on a brand new car only to find that my application for finance has been declined.

My credit score is 738 with only one default in the last five years of only £467. I am about to start a new job on the 20th August that pays £28k basic plus a £5k annual car allowance.

Of course on the application they had to put housewife as I have not started my job yet. Am I better to wait until I have started my job before applying for car finance or leasing? Thanks, Charlotte

Answer

Hi Charlotte, do you have a contract of employment? If so we'd be able to help you now. If not it may be best to wait until you have started your new role. How much finance do you require and what deposit do you have? You seem to have an average credit score and i'd imagine this is down t your old default. Are all your current credit agreements up to date payment wise and are they all registered in your current address? Rachel

Hi, i have a credit score of 194 due to student overdrafts however all my current accounts are up to date and paid for. I also have a credit card. My husband works and i'm a house wife and we do have deposit. Would we be eligable? Thanks

Answer

Hi Sheryl, yes - yourself and your husband would be eligible for car finance. Does your husband have good or bad credit? Also are you both on the electoral roll at your current address? Please make a joint application on our website when you get chance. Rachel

Hi, I have a credit rating of 881 but I'm only a house wife. My husband is on benefits and has a low credit rating.

Could i get finance for a car for about £5000 over 5 years? Lastly, should i go for a loan by myself or should we do joint car finance? Thanks

Answer

Hi Elizabeth, thank you for your question and apologies for the delayed response.

As your husband has poor credit and isn't working currently it'd be no use adding him onto the application unfortunately. However, as you have a decent credit score i'm hoping that we can get you approved on your own.

Please make an application and once approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer in the UK. Kind Regards, Rachel
