The Fiat 500 is a "good bet" for the future for car loans customers, according to residual value experts.

The Fiat 500 is a "good bet" for the future for car loans customers, according to residual value experts.

Specialists who calculate future used car prices for the motor industry have given their latest predictions on what they think the new Fiat 500 supermini will be worth in three years' time.

They say residual values on some 500 models have increased from 42 to 46 per cent of original list price – an uplift of more than £350.

Of the 500 range, the 1.2 Pop has the best residual value at 47 per cent after three years.

Adam Pumfrey, fleet and remarketing director for Fiat Group Automobiles UK, hails the figures as "good news" and adds: "The residual value guides have reacted positively to the success of the 500 and have increased their used predictions accordingly."

The Fiat 500 was named Car of the Year by an international jury of journalists from 22 European countries.

It was included in the shortlist by 57 of the 58 judges and 33 also made it top in their personal rankings.
