News for eco-aware car loans customers: CO2 emissions list published

Environmentally-aware motorists using car finance to purchase their next vehicle may be interested in figures published by Clean Green Cars on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Environmentally-aware motorists using car finance to purchase their next vehicle may be interested in figures published by Clean Green Cars on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The body has revealed that Fiat and Mini are the only mainstream manufacturers whose average exhaust emissions of the gas are less than 140 grams per kilometre, a target set by car makers a decade ago in a voluntary agreement.

"Some manufacturers have delivered on their promise, but the vast majority have to raise their game significantly," said Jay Nagley of Clean Green Cars.

"What is interesting is that, as fuel prices rocket and the new car market falters, car makers with the highest emissions are being punished by the consumer."

According to Clean Green Cars, every manufacturer with average new car emissions significantly above 200 g/km of CO2 saw sales slump from January to June this year.

With sales down by more than a half for manufacturers Porsche and Jeep compared to a total market fall of 6.1 per cent, there is clear evidence that cars with high CO2 emissions are falling in popularity, the study adds.

Clean Green Cars aims to provide clear, easily understood advice about choosing and using cars in a more environmentally considerate way.
