Toyota has doubled the diesel choice in its Auris TR range, news which may be of interest to drivers using car finance to buy their next vehicle.
A 1.4 D-4D 90 engine brings the choice in the TR grade to four, with the current 2.0 D-4D 130 diesel and two petrol options.
The new engine produces 89bhp and is ideal for the stop-start of urban traffic, according to the manufacturer.
It is available with a choice of manual or automatic five-speed gear box and has a top speed of 109 mph.
"Lightweight, smooth and highly efficient, the unit delivers strong fuel economy and low emissions," says Toyota.
With carbon dioxide emissions of 132 grams per km, the TR is in band C for vehicle excise duty and all models come with 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning and heated electrically adjustable door mirrors.
Last month the Toyota Yaris was named Car of the Year 2008 by the Environmental Transport Association, which reviewed more than 1,300 vehicles currently on sale in the UK on power, emissions, fuel efficiency and noise levels.
