People are abandoning vehicles in England less than they were, according to new statistics which may interest car finance customers.
The Local Government Association (LGA) has stated that there has been a 84 per cent drop in dumped vehicles in the East Midlands over the last four years.
It added that in the east of England there was an 80 per cent fall, with a 77 per cent cut in the activity on the south-west.
Chairman of the Environment board at the LGA Councillor Paul Bettison attributed the figures to a three-pronged approach employed by officials.
He said: "People tell us that these eyesores make them feel unsafe in their own neighbourhood and figures like these show councils up and down the country are working hard to make people feel safe and secure."
This comes as research from uSwitch.com has found that £168 million is to be wasted on car finance deals for vehicles with new 58 plates this September.
