The company was handed the red dot award for its Flextreme concept vehicle - given to the best design ideas with the power to improve the world in the future.
It is granted by an international panel of experts who base their decision on innovation, functionality and quality.
Commenting on the Fletreme concept car, Ken Koo - president of the award committee - said: "The high number of quality entries made this competition extremely challenging and, hence, winning the red dot an exceptional achievement."
According to Vauxhall/Opel, the vehicle incorporates alternative energy with fresh, bold styling.
The electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery, allowing the Flextreme to travel up to 55 km.
Meanwhile, the Lotus Carlton super-saloon has been named the UK's favourite Vauxhall in a survey of 630 owners.
