Environmentally-friendly drivers planning to take out car loans later this year may be tempted by the third-generation Toyota Prius.
The model is making its debut at the Detroit motor show and the manufacturer claimed it is better than ever.
Offering improved fuel economy, more impressive performance credentials and lower CO2 emissions, Toyota also stated the car features sharper styling, higher levels of comfort and a more rewarding driving experience.
The new version of the Prius is still capable of running on its electric motor or petrol engine alone - or using a combination of both.
It includes a bigger 1.8-litre VVT-I petrol engine, but a re-engineering of the hybrid synergy drive system has resulted in a reduction in size and weight.
Car loans customers in the UK will be able to buy the model this summer, with specification and performance details for the European market scheduled to be announced at the Geneva motor show in March.
Meanwhile, Toyota recently claimed the new Avensis is a good choice for motorists looking for a vehicle which holds its value and is cheap to run.
