People planning on taking out car loans later in the year in order to update their current model may be keen to check out the first official pictures of Seat's new Leon and Altea ranges.

The manufacturer has released a number of photographs ahead of the vehicles' unveiling at next month's Geneva motor show.

According to the company, the changes made to the cars strengthen their appeal by making them more attractive and improving the engineering and equipment.

Head of marketing Steve Robertson said: "The revisions come at the perfect time ... as Seat looks to build on a strong start to 2009 and further strengthen its position."

Prices and full specification details for the latest Leon and Altea models are due to be released closer to their arrival in British showrooms this summer.

Last month, Seat announced it had recorded its 1,000th UK registration of the Ibiza Ecomotive.
