Car loans customers looking for a vehicle that offers excellent protection in the event of a crash may want to pay a visit to their local Volkswagen dealership.

Car loans customers looking for a vehicle that offers excellent protection in the event of a crash may want to pay a visit to their local Volkswagen dealership.

The new Golf has just been awarded a maximum five-star safety rating from Euro Ncap.

After being put through a series of crash tests, the model was found to offer good levels of protection to occupants and pedestrians, as well as including technology to help drivers avoid collisions in the first place.

Motorists who opt to buy the Golf will find it comes with the Electronic Stability Programme as standard, along with whiplash-optimised head restraints.

Euro Ncap recently revised its rating system so that cars now receive an overall mark, rather than separate scores for different areas.

Volkswagen commented: "Using the new overview evaluation, customers can quickly determine the overall safety of a vehicle and also make easy comparisons."

Meanwhile, car loans customers may also want to keep an eye out for the new Polo from the same manufacturer.

The fifth generation model was unveiled at the Geneva motor show this month and is due to go on sale in October.
