Sirion could reduce car loans customers' running costs

Cash-strapped motorists who desperately need to replace their old banger but want to purchase a vehicle with low running costs may be tempted to take out a car loan for a model from Daihatsu.

Cash-strapped motorists who desperately need to replace their old banger but want to purchase a vehicle with low running costs may be tempted to take out a car loan for a model from Daihatsu.

According to the manufacturer, the Sirion can take a driver 165 miles on £10 worth of fuel.

The company insisted no competitor can match the 1.0-litre model's economy, low emissions or performance.

With a top speed of 99.4 mph, the vehicle can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 13.5 seconds.

In terms of fuel consumption, the car is capable of 56.5 mpg on the combined cycle.

Furthermore, the model falls under one of the lower road tax bands as it releases 118 g/km of carbon dioxide - so buyers will pay £35 a year.

Paul Hegarty, Daihatsu's operations director, said: "It's the car all families and businesses should be looking at, offering class-leading economy, performance and emissions."

Last month, the manufacturer suggested its Terios 4x4 model is perfect for family day trips.
