Motorists laden with the infamous quintessentially British old banger, rejoice! The Government has again decided to extend their highly successful car scrappage scheme until the end of March, this allowing undecided motorists the opportunity to trade in their old car for a £2000 discount on a new one.

The scheme has been a nationwide triumph, from helping Britain’s motor industry from the destructive claws of the recession, to clearing Britain’s roads from cars that by today’s standards are unsafe during a crash situation.

A Think Money expert stated that “There had been some speculation as to whether low car finance levels have been due to a lack of demand or a lack of availability, but the increase seen during the car scrappage scheme suggests that when people want to buy a new car, the car finance is, in many cases, available.”

It does seem that Britain is slowly but surely coming out of the financial nightmare that is the recession. Car finance, car sales and car loans where indeed all down on targets, but it seems sunny skies are not only round the corner in regards to the seasons, but also for the motoring industry.
