Russia considering extended car scrappage loan

While our motorists can no longer benefit from the government’s scrappage scheme, the Russians could be able to continue the popular trend. Russia is considering whether to spend an addition 5 billion roubles ($161.8 million) for the extension of the popular car scrappage scheme.

While our motorists can no longer benefit from the government’s scrappage scheme, the Russians could be able to continue the popular trend. Russia is considering whether to spend an addition 5 billion roubles ($161.8 million) for the extension of the popular car scrappage scheme.

The financial implications would mean Russia’s total spending within the sector would come to 25 billion roubles. "It's not decided yet, part of the money may go to car scrappage ... but that would only include compact (autos)," said a Russian source.

Whatever they do, be in no doubt of the success of the scheme both at home and abroad, as the British scheme probably saved our car industry from nose-diving into oblivion.
