Autumn has just left us, but the autumnal theme of leafs is yet to end – as Nissan will be releasing their new electric city car. The Nissan Leaf is not just an aptly named electric vehicle, but it is also being tapped as one of the first viable electric cars that consumers will actually want to buy and own.

And the news gets better, as car finance buyers may we interested to know that the Leaf will benefit from ultra low car insurance premiums. This means running costs would be on par with that of a horse – but don’t quote us on that.

According to Nissan, the Leaf has received 27,000 worldwide pre-orders, which only adds to the Leaf’s pre-release reputation. Whether or not it will be a hit once consumers get behind the wheel is another story, but what does seem clear is that the electric age is finally here – sort of.
