November proves to be a bad financial month for car sales

According to The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) new car sales fell by 11.5 per cent during November.

According to The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) new car sales fell by 11.5 per cent during November. The total number of cars sold stands at 139,875, with the Ford Fiesta topping the list – but it’s considerably less than the 158,082 cars sold during November last year.

The SMMT is still positive however, and they think the VAT rise in January could make consumers buy before the New Year is out.

“Registrations are expected to fall next month, but demand may benefit from motorists looking to avoid the January VAT rise” said Paul Everitt, chief executive at the SMMT.
