Fiat has joined forces with the European Investment Bank (EIB) in an agreement that will see finances spread across Fiat’s plans for research and development.

The new deal will see Fiat’s research and development centre in Italy see a large boost in budget and will potentially help Fiat’s ambitions of breaking back into the American car market.

Along with the new ambitions, the EIB’s money will go towards efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions in forthcoming Fiat models. €250m is a lot of money, so let’s hope we see a good return in the shape of exciting new designs and technologies from the Italian giant.
