With the forthcoming demise of the fantastic 2.2-litre diesel engine from Honda – thanks to those pesky Euro emissions – the Japanese marque needed to rethink and create a new diesel for the 21st Century regulations.

The new ‘smaller’ diesel unit will be launched a year after the new generation Civic is released and will also debut in Jazz and Accord models. David Hodgetts, Managing Director of Honda UK, spoke to Fleet News and stated that the new engine will be cleaner and smaller than its predecessor.

So, it’ll be the perfect engine for the eco-focused car finance buyer as the new diesel has projected CO2 emissions of just 110g/km.
