Audi managed to win the 24 hours of Le Mans despite an absolutely unbelievably huge crash from one of their drivers, Allan McNish. The images and videos of the accident show just how lucky McNish was to walk out alive. The Audi team were disappointed that McNish crashed out early one but still managed to win overall – much to Peugeot’s distain.

The car finance fans were treated to some great racing, but for a while, it was all about the state of McNish. Speaking to Radio Le Mans, he said:

"I realised soon after the start (of the race) that the car balance was very good," he continued, "I was in fourth pretty early on and pretty instantly quicker than the Peugeot in front of me."

"I kept to the inside and down the inside of the Ferrari that was just ahead. The first I knew about it was when I was spinning to the left-hand wall. Then I knew I was along for the ride.

"Obviously it was a very big accident but having had a check with the doctors and at the hospital, I've been given the all-clear.

"It's a big disappointment for the team, for Tom and Dindo. The car we had was really, really good. There's a flat feeling."
