Electric car finance cars with added noise!

One of the weirdest things about the electric car is the lack of noise. There’s no combustion engine to produce the roar of the pistons and the valves moving about, so that means there’s no exhaust noise, no induction noise and no sound of power. All you get is tyre noise, which is a bit boring, let’s be honest.

Now, though, car finance drivers in the US will be able to add some fake noise to their Nissan Leaf and Tesla Roadster. The American authorities will be fitted, by request, to protect “unsuspecting pedestrians and the visually-impaired from accidents involving hybrid and electric vehicles.”

Will this technology come to the UK anytime soon? We wouldn’t bet against it.
