Drivers to enjoy 80mph dual-carriageway limit?

Are the car drivers of the UK about to enjoy a new 80mph dual-carriageway limit? The news of the government’s considerations as to whether to allow motorways in the UK to have an 80mph limit came earlier in the year, and now it seems they’re also considering the same speed limit on our dual-carriageways.

The Department of Transport’s recent documents on cutting red tape for motorists announced that it was looking into the raising of the limit on the dual-carriageways of Britain. If the move is green-lighted, it would see the UK come into line with the limits currently enforced in the rest of Europe, and would apparently help the economy.

Brake, spoke to the BBC: "We would be strongly opposed to any policy that would increase deaths on the roads... To have such a policy would be unethical. Each death on the road affects not only the victim but their family too."

It’s a tough one, but would a higher limit be something our car finance 247 drivers would be interested in?
