Electric car charging issues solved?

Have the geniuses of the world finally figured out a way of charging our electric cars in a short enough time to make them viable? Well, if the Electric Vehicle Symposium is anywhere near as good as the eight major car manufacturers (Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Ford, GM, Porsche and VW) say, then yes, yes they have!

According to the aforementioned manufacturers, this new form of electric car charging will charge an electric car in just 15 minutes! According to a statement released by Volkswagen Group, the charger will "accelerate more affordable deployment of electrified vehicles and charging infrastructure."

And will form "a uniform standard with identical electrical systems, charge controllers, package dimensions and safety mechanisms".

Sounds thrilling, but what impresses most is the 15 minute charging time. This really has been the main problem with electric vehicles, but if the charge time is that quick we’d be stupid not to buy into the technology.
