Ford Wins Another Award

Ford has taken away the spoils with its latest award for its ingenious 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. The little engine has been given the Engine of the Year award for 2012, thanks to its amazing technology which allows the three-cylinder motor to be better, in every way, than Ford’s 1.6-litre unit it’s replacing.

The little engine has been given the Engine of the Year award for 2012, thanks to its amazing technology which allows the three-cylinder motor to be better, in every way, than Ford’s 1.6-litre unit it’s replacing. 

The stats speak for themselves: it’s more powerful, more economical, quieter and smoother. The 1.6 really needs to hang its head in shame. But all jokes aside, this is big news for the industry as it proves that small capacity engines can now, with today’s technology, be superior to the larger and thirstier engines of the last few years.

Is this the first sign that electric and hybrid technology could be on its way out? We’ll see.
