Scrappage Scheme is Back… Sort of!

How times flies. Remember the good old scrappage scheme a few years ago? The government introduced this popular scheme after the UK’s economy was struggling and the car industry even more so. It worked well for the duration of its running time and many were sad to see it go when the government said ‘that’s it’.

How times flies. Remember the good old scrappage scheme a few years ago? The government introduced this popular scheme after the UK’s economy was struggling and the car industry even more so. It worked well for the duration of its running time and many were sad to see it go when the government said ‘that’s it’.

Now though, thanks to the revived, Chinese-owned MG brand, the scrappage scheme is back… in a way. What MG is offering is pretty impressive: they’ll give you £3,000 for your old banger – as long as it’s got an MOT certificate for at least 14 days. That means, you can put that £3,000 against a new MG6 saloon, and while the car may not be a Lambo, with this deal it becomes very attractive indeed.

Fair play to MG for pushing their brand with this deal and racing in the BTCC, but will it work?
