Infiniti Plans To Build in The UK

Infiniti continues to impress and force itself upon the UK’s car industry with a fair amount of press and decent cars. It’s been tough for the luxury arm of Nissan to create a market for itself in such a competitive automotive scene, but Infiniti does seem to be making the headlines for all the right reasons. And now, the company has announced it plans to build cars in the UK from 2015 onwards.

It will use Nissan’s Sunderland plant to build its own premium compact car, which will not only be good news for quality, but also great news for the UK’s car industry.

Colin Dodge (nice name) CBE, Nissan's executive vice president and chief performance officer, said: "This milestone, our first premium product to be manufactured at Sunderland, reconfirms our commitment to UK manufacturing and the ongoing success of the plant, which is moving up the value chain.

"Just as important, the new Infiniti, which will be exported around the world, is being developed with help from our London design centre and our European Technical Centre at Cranfield."

According to Infiniti, this is the beginning of a strong relationship with the UK, so let’s see how they get on over the next few years.
