Order books recently opened for the much anticipated supercar from the Japanese manufacturer, Honda, following an enormous global interest. For as little as £5,000, a customer can now pre-order Honda's upcoming supercar prior to its 2015 launch date.

“We are really pleased with the interest we’ve already seen for the new NSX," said Phil Crossman, Managing Director of Honda (UK), "We are still two years away from the launch of the car and yet we’ve received over 20 deposits and that’s before we’ve even announced prices or seen the final production car. With this process in place we are confident demand will remain strong and early hand raisers can now visit any Honda dealership in the UK and place a deposit.”

The concept design for the new NSX made its initial debut at the Detroit Motor Show in 2012. Indications of the final design implies a low and wide stance, coupled with sleek and simplistic curves.

Honda also claims that the interior boasts outstanding visibility, a strong driving position, and an intuitive “Simple Sports Interface” that minimises interior clutter. Spectators would be safe to assume that the new NSX aims to recreate the simplistic and understated spirit of the original.

Power will come in the form of a direct-injected V6 engine, mounted in the middle of the chassis, combined with Honda's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system. Utilising a unique 2 Electric Motor Drive Unit with a bilateral torque adjustable control system so the new hybrid all-wheel-drive system can instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering, Honda anticipates that it will deliver handling performance unmatched by any previous AWD systems.

Honda have also revealed plans to manufacture the new NSX at a new production facility in central Ohio, USA. Development has been undertaken by a global R&D team led by designers and engineers at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. located in Los Angeles, California, and Raymond, Ohio.

This latest news shadows the success of the original, launched in 1990, which created a credible 25 orders per-year prior to launch and a total of 180,000 sold worldwide, 290 units of which were delivered to the UK. Prices and further details will surely follow in the run up to the launch. Only time will tell if the new NSX really does prove to be as successful as the original.
