The price commanded for used Ford commercial vehicles has been rising substantially in the face of strong demand, reports Auto Wired.

While it is typical for used vehicles to depreciate slightly as they get older, the new model Transit vans at a recent sale actual saw their sales prices increase.

The auction in Nottingham saw several models selling for hundreds of pounds more than compared to identical vehicles at an event three months.

The rising prices show the value of choosing a used vehicle carefully, potentially allowing you to not only save money on the purchase price but also make a sensible financial investment.

"Demand such as this is really unprecedented, but as many commercial vehicle dealers are short of quality used stock the competition between buyers is intense. As used retailers will tell you, you can't sell empty spaces," Duncan Ward from BCA told Auto Wired.

"You would expect new models to make strong values when they first enter the used vehicle market which new Transit certainly did. What is more surprising is to see those initial launch values be substantially improved for comparable vehicles three months later," he added.

Buying a used car is a great way to cut your car finance costs, especially when combined with a competitive car loan or car credit deal.
