Skoda is working on boosting the resale value of the new model of the popular Fabia, reports Motor Trader.
Since its launch the small car has consistently been one of the most popular in its class, both for its very competitive price and for the VW-inspired engineering.
Now the company is preparing to release the next generation of the model, which it believes will hold its value as a used car better than its predecessor.
After three years and 36,000 miles the company believes the new model will keep 45 per cent of its value, a considerable improvement on the 32 per cent residual value of the current model at the same stage in its life.
Skoda is aiming to sell 9,000 of the new Fabias this year and 13,000 next year when an equivalent estate model is released.
The improved used car resale value of this already popular vehicle should help attract savvy buyers, both to invest in the new vehicles and to buy it as a used car in a few years.
