One of the most economical hybrid cars ever made is about to go into mainstream production which could be of interest to car finance customers with environmental concerns.
According to Auto Express, the three-wheeled petrol-electric engine Aptera can return around 300 mpg while still being able to reach 60 mph in 10 seconds with a top speed of 95 mph.
The new car, which is currently available in the US and could be imported for the benefit of car finance customers in the UK, carries a price tag of £14,709 with the option for all-electric model costing £13,232.
Both versions have the look of a futuristic concept car and offer solar-assisted climate control, a rear view camera and a sat-nav system while still having enough space for one driver, one passenger and a child as well as luggage.
Steve Fambro, founder and chief executive of the car company told ecoworld.com that the new car would reduce the need for extra power by its use of sleek aerodynamics.
"Why use extra oil just to push air out of the way?," he said.
