Car finance customers 'hit the north'

A new study has revealed that used car finance customers looking for a better deal could be better of heading north.

A new study has revealed that used car finance customers looking for a better deal could be better of heading north.

According to Auto Express, used car dealers in the region are driving down prices following a disappointing start to the year.

It is thought that better prices in the north of the country could be due to a drop in sales that was hit the region particularly hard.

Whereas the national average saw a drop in sales of around 2.5 per cent, dealers in the north suffered a 6.8 per cent drop and one spokesman for financial data specialist Experian suggests that this could result in a better deal for d=car finance customers.

"Dealers have had to focus on cutting costs while still attracting buyers," the spokesman told the magazine.

He added that it is not only on price where consumers could be seeing increased competition. "Buyers identify their overall experience as the most important factor in choosing a car dealer."

Earlier this month Steven Baillie, head of loans said at Sainsbury's bank said that car finance customers were spending more on second-hand car purchases than six months ago.
