A number of new and used car owners could be caught out by the incoming cold weather, according to a new report.

The study, put together by South Korean car manufacturer Kia, found that drivers in the UK are currently not ready for the winter weather and warned that preparations should be made if motorists want to avoid being left out in the cold.

Motortorque.com reports the survey revealed that 35 per cent of respondents said they did not check tread and pressure levels on their tyres last winter and 30 per cent admitted to driving without their windows cleared of ice and mist.

The website also offers some advice for motorists, including those who may have recently acquired a used vehicle with car finance, such as carrying basic safety equipment.

It was noted that drivers should always have a fully charged mobile phone and remember to check tyre pressure and tread once a month at the very least.
