According to autocar.co.uk, Infiniti, which has proved a popular choice for motorists in Japan, has had its launch in the UK postponed over the establishment of a dealership network.
The manufacturer, which is set to offer its G35, G37, EX35 and FX models to car finance customers, hopes to close in on a section of the UK market currently populated by luxury car-makers such as Mercedes, Audi and Lexus.
However, Wayne Bruce, Infiniti's European PR chief, said that if the company was going to secure a stake in the market it was important to get things right from the start.
"We don't have a sales objective at all. But it's important to launch properly and [we have not been given] 15 years to get established like Lexus did," he said.
The company recently used Hispanic stars such as trumpeter Alfredo "Chocolate" Armenteros and celebrity chef Douglas Rodriguez to push sales in Spanish-speaking communities in the US.
