The Ford-owned company said this week that it intended to continue to develop new technologies that would address current concerns over climate change and CO2 emissions.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live's 'Wake Up to Money' programme, Land Rover's managing director Phil Popham said that its latest vehicle had a CO2 emissions level of around 120 g/km as well as offering 60 miles to the gallon when using biodiesel.
He added that the new car's features "really do react to the environmentally-focused world that we see at the moment" but added that the firm was currently looking at "who would buy this car" and whether or not the vehicle could be developed "as a viable business proposition".
Last year the Detroit News reported that Land Rover would unveil an ecologically focused three-door SUV named the LRX.
