Car loans customers 'know exactly what they want'

A new study has revealed exactly what new and used car customers require when purchasing a vehicle.

The survey, put together by British Car Auctions (BCA), revealed that half of all vehicle shoppers - including those with used car finance - specified that they would be looking for the exact car they set out for in the first place.

Price was found to be the second most important consideration, followed by finding a dealer that was conveniently located, had friendly and professional staff, would provide a warranty and was easy to negotiate with.

Commenting on the research, entitled the BCA Used Car Market Report, Tim Naylor, public relations manager at the group said that used car buyers were very specific about what they require from dealers and that this was clear in the results.

"Another important aspect of the car buying experience is the support provided by dealer staff. Consumers placed friendly and professional staff as their fourth most important criteria when choosing a particular dealer," he added.

BCA currently claims to handle around 100 auctions per week as well as offering an online service.
