Car finance customers looking for a sporty vehicle have been given a new option from Peugeot, it has emerged.
Reuters reports that the French manufacturer has announced it will release a brand new version of its 308 S, Sport and SE HDi models that will feature a six-speed manual gearbox.
It is thought that the new 308 models, which will allow the drivers to change gear manually without using the car's clutch or fully automatic mode, have been put together in-house and will make the car more economical.
The news agency states that the new gearbox will not only enhance its green credentials, allowing it an average CO2 emissions level of 120g/km, but will also allow for an estimated fuel consumption of 62.7mpg
Porsche's Tiptronic sequential control is also included on the new gearbox and will make its debut on the S and SE HDi 110 models followed by the inclusion of a six-speed automatic on the 2.0-litre HDi 136 at a later date.
The original Tiptronic system came from a collaboration between Porsche, ZF and Bosch with ZF developing the Porsche idea for the gearbox and Bosch supplying the electronic control.
