Declined by Arnold Clark for finance

I recently applied for PCP for a car through Arnold Clark but i was declined. I recently just paid off 2 store cards which i believed to be bringing my credit rating down. However i missed a couple of payments a couple of months ago because i had lost my job.

My credit rating is 781 (with Experian) and has improved slightly. Could you tell me whether it was my credit score that got me declined or the fact that i had a couple of missed payments on my account? Thanks, Zoe

Answer.

Hi Zoe, i'd imagine that it's a combination of your credit score and missed payments that got you the negative response with Arnold Clark.

Your score seems average to be honest and i'm reasonably confident we could help but would you be interested in getting a nearly new car on hire purchase rather than a new car on a PCP as this may be the easier option? I believe that we have more non-status lenders on our panel than Arnold Clark so we have a greater chance of getting you approved.

If you are employed with a full UK licence please apply and we'll get you accepted in no time. If approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can choose a car from any dealer. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi there, I was told by a sales man at arnold clark that my finance was accepted on car i choose only to be phoned back the next day to be told it's now be refused. Why if i was initially accepted has this company now withdrawn?

Posted by Douglas R on

Answer.

Hi Douglas, it does seem strange but did Arnold Clark give you any reason? Had you supplied them with any extra information that could have changed their minds? If not don't worry as we'll try and get you approved with one of our lenders so that you can still get the car you want at Arnold Clark.

Please make an application when you're ready and if approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi there, I moved house 6 months ago and I am looking to get a new car from Arnold Clark.

However, i'm on the voters roll at my old address and my credit score is 451. Will I get accepted? Thanks, Steven

Posted by Steven on

Answer.

Hi Steven, thank you for your question.

You seem to have a below average credit score so it's unlikely Arnold Clark will get you approved for finance as they only use specific high street lenders in their showrooms (who help people with good credit).

This isn't to say that we can't get you approved though. I wouldn't worry about being on the electoral roll at your old address either. I take it your current credit is registered in your new address anyway so our lenders will be able to trace you at your new address.

Please make an application and once accepted we provide a no obligation quote and you can choose a car from any Arnold Clark dealer. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

I applied for car finance through Arnold Clark and was advised that due to a lack of credit history i couldn't get the finance.

I have shopped around but car i want is with them. Can you help?

Posted by Lynn Johnston on

Answer.

Hi Lynn, thank you for your question.

In short, i believe that we have more non-status lenders on our panel than Arnold Clark so there is a chance we can get you approved for car finance. The best thing is that if we get you approved you can also buy the car you want from Arnold Clark too.

Are you on the electoral register as this will aide your chances of getting accepted and i take it that you have a UK bank account registered in your current address? If so please make an application when you're ready. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

H, me and my wife are in a trust deed. However we both work full-time and our car is beginning to lose its life.

Is there any chance of getting car finance whilst in a trust deed? We both changed jobs and are both now well paid and can easily afford a good used vehicle. Not looking for a brand new car. Please help if possible. Thanks

Posted by Peter Birtles on

Answer.

Hi Peter, thank you for your question.

We do indeed have lenders on our panel that help people in Trust Deeds get car finance. The good news is that you and your wife now have well paid jobs and it sounds like your credit history is improving. You could also use your current car as a deposit towards a newer one.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi there, my credit rating is 691 with Experian and I already have a car out on finance through Arnold Clark but, I'm looking to trade in for a new one!

What are the chances of getting my finance through Arnold Clark again?

Posted by Heather Musleh on

Answer.

Hi Heather, thank you for your question.

You seem to have a fair credit score and i'm reasonably confident we could get you approved for car finance. We have access to more lenders than Arnold Clark so hopefully we'll get you a better finance rate.

Please make an application when you're ready and if approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from Arnold Clark. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

Hi, I am looking into getting a finance on a used car, nothing to pricey.

I have however, had issues with my credit in the past and have a couple of defaults that have been hanging about for a few years now. However, for the past few years everything has been spot on, paid up to date, all outstanding bills/fee's paid and credit score mounting back up to a fair rating.

I would like to try and get a finance on a car but don't want a search on my credit file and rejected due to past issues. I have enough money for a suitable deposit. Any chance you think I can get accepted? Michael.

Posted by Michael on

Answer.

Hi Michael, thank you for your question.

As long as you are employed, can prove your income and have a UK driving licence i'm confident we can help as you have a clean recent credit history.

We do have lenders on our panel that help people with past credit issues get car finance. We also have to carry out a credit search to see if we can get you approved but the good news is that our searches aren't visible to lenders on your credit profile. If we think we can help we'll then propose you to a suitable lender. At this point they will carry out a full credit search.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Edwin

Question.

I have just been declined from Arnold Clark as i have poor credit. Is there anything i can do as the car is the perfect one?

Posted by Lisa Elliot on

Answer.

Hi Lisa, thank you for your question.

The good news is that we have more non-status lenders on our panel than Arnold Clark that specialise in helping people with poor credit. We can't guarantee an approval but we'll certainly try our best to get you accepted.

Please make an application when you can and if approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Edwin
