Can You Get Car Finance Without A Drivers Licence?

Hi, I have a question and am wondering where we stand. Is it true my husband needs a full license to finance a car for us? They won't let me as I don't work and even as a joint claim its looking unlikely as he doesn't have the license - I do! We both have not the best credit rating. Is there a way to get the finance we need before he passes his test?

Hi Victoria, we do have a few lenders who help people with no licences however as you both have average credit scores we won't be able to help on this occasion. As soon as he has passed his test he could apply with no problems. Rachel

I am due to take my test in the next couple of days and really want a car but have no deposit. Plus i would want the car ASAP - is this possible?! I have a credit card and a contract phone and all payments are always made on time. I probably only want to

Hi Kate, we'd be able to get you a better rate of finance once you have passed your driving test as we only have one lender that approves individuals with provisional licences. As you seem to have a good credit score it'd be silly to limit you to the one lender. Please apply once you've passed your test and we'll have you in a new car in no time at all and to fit your budget. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi Sally, thank you for your question and apologies for the delayed response. The good news is that we do have lenders on our panel that help people on DLA and who have provisional driving licences get car finance. On the application form please just place in the income you receive from benefits. We can't guarantee an acceptance at this stage but please make an application when you're ready and if approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Hi Lisa, i have a handful of lenders in mind that hopefully will be able to help. The lenders decision will be based solely on your credit history and employment status. They will also determine the rate you receive. Please apply and we'll see what we can do. Good luck. Regards, Rachel

Hi David, we do have one lender that will be able to help as long as you can prove your income and have a 10% deposit. Also are you on the voters roll at your current address? Rachel

Hi Robii, whoever you have been approved with will need to see a copy of your driving licence. If you don't have it they can do a DVLA check so you should be fine. Regards, Rachel

Hi Vikki, unfortunately all lenders want to see that you have a full UK licence before providing car finance. I'm sorry but you'll have to wait until you have your licence unless you get a personal loan from your bank etc. Good luck with your lessons and i'm sure you'll have your test passed in no time. My credit rating is through the floor and I have a clean, full UK licence, my partner is the opposite, he has excellent credit rating and wants to finance a car, he doesn't have a driving licence and no desire to drive. Car salesmen have advised us that m

Hi Claire. I would advise that you put a joint application through so we can have a look at both your credit profiles and assess what the best option would be for you. If your partners credit is as good as you say then we may be able to get him approved on his own (gaining better interest rates). You would be able to drive the vehicle however he would be 100% liable for the payments. I hope this helps. Rachel

My mum has bad credit and a part time job and we are in desperate need of a car. My question is as i'm 19 and never had any trouble with my credit rating (but do not work as I get disability) do you think we can get finance if we apply for a joint applic

Hi Lauren, thank you for your question. Making a joint application would indeed help your chances of being approved for car finance as you have some clean credit history and we'll be able to take both sets of income into account. We do have lenders that help people with poor credit so there is a possibility we can get you approved. Please make an application when you get chance. Kind Regards, Rachel
