I Have a CCJ in My Name and I Have Bad Credit. Will the Car Finance APR be High?

I received a CCJ in my name in 2009. I am now struggling to get a loan for a car. I was wanting to borrow around £2000.

I was wanting to know if the interest rate on a loan would be high?

Hi Jess, thank you for your question. If you have a CCJ that's still active but it's under the amount of £5000 we should still be able to get you accepted for finance. The good news is that we do have lenders on our panel that help people with current & settled CCJ's..

However, as you have stated the APR unfortunately will be higher than those seen on the high street as the lender you get approved with will see you as a higher risk than someone without a CCJ. The amount you wish to borrow seems fine and if approved this won't be a problem as long as you can prove your income.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

CCJs, defaults and IVAs related questions

Hi! I'm 20 years old and have had a resolved CCJ in the past. However I have been in my job for 4 years and earn around £1000 a month. Would I be able to get car finance?

Hi Jack, due to your age and the fact that you have a default already it is unlikely that we'll be able to help you. How much is your default for and what other credit do you have, if any? Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi Nitin, thank you for your question. As you are a home-owner, have a good credit score and a decent monthly income i'm confident we can get you approved without having to see your credit report. Especially if you have just recently been approved by Santander there should be no reason at all why we can help you. Please apply when you can and once approved with us we provide a no obligation quote and you can get a car from any dealer in the UK. We can beat dealer rates too. Kind Regards, Louis

My credit rating isn't too good at the moment and i have a couple of ccj's. Although these have been sorted i need to lend £2000. Is that possible given my circumstances?

Asked by Al
August 5, 2011

Hi Al, here at CarFinance 247.co.uk we have many lenders on our panel that help people all over the UK get car finance with bad credit.

How much do the CCJ's that you have add up to? This could be a stumbling block (if over £10,000 combined) but we'll do all we can to help you out. As you say "they have now been sorted" i'm confident we can get you accepted for £2000 as it's a small amount. As long as you're employed with a full UK licence and preferably electoral roll status we should be ok.

Please apply online when you get a moment and once approved we provide a no obligation quote and you can get your car from any UK dealer. Thanks, Rachel

Hi, I have had defaults on credit accounts in past 12 months and also have a poor credit history.

I am in full time employment and now on top of all my credit accounts. Can I gain car finance?

I am extremely positive that we'll be able to get you car finance as we are specialists in helping people with bad credit. Are you on top of all your current agreements and have the defaults that you talk about now been cleared? If not, are you paying on time each month?

If so, we have helped thousands of people over the past 10 years obtain car finance even though they have had a less than perfect past. So don't worry. Please apply and we'll try our best to get you approved. Once accepted we provide a no obligation quote and you can buy a car from any dealer in the UK. Kind Regards, Rachel

Rachel, I was put on to 1/2 salary in December 2011 to keep my job. I had to enter into a debt management program in Feb 2011. but it was 3 months until creditors got any payments from debt management company. I came out of the program in September 2011 w

Hi Ajb, It is definitely possible to gain car finance in your situation and we have been able to help previous customers in similar siutations to yourself. Some finance companies will lend to people who have been in/are still in a debt management scheme. However such companies will need to see that you are trying to improve your credit profile and from what you have told me this is the case. Mortgages and HP agreements are some of the strongest forms of credit and the fact that you have not missed any payments will definitely help you in gaining future finance. So when you are ready please put an application through so we can look to place you with one of our lenders. Rachel :)

Hi Carrie, it'll be a struggle to be completely honest as 18 defaults is a serious amount. However, as your credit score has improved and you now have some active clean credit it is not a lost cause. As long as you're employed and can prove your income and you're on the electoral roll we have a chance. Please apply when you feel ready? Also would you have a deposit? Kind Regards, Rachel

Yes I've been on the electoral roll at my current address for 3 years now and can prove my income. If I have a deposit of 2k, what figure do you approximate I could borrow?
