Can I buy a car on credit from any dealer?

I have found a vehicle I want to purchase, but will you only finance cars that you source?
Asked by Kenneth Clarke

Hi Kenneth, in a nutshell we allow you to buy a car from any reputable dealer nationwide or if you're struggling our finance advisors can help locate one in your local area.

I take it you have a full UK licence and if requested you can provide proof of income (this isn't always mandatory). If so, please make an application and if approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

If you’re looking for finance for an old car, we could help! We work with a panel of lenders and they can provide loans for used cars up to 15 years old at the end of your agreement.

Financing a used car is very similar to financing a new car and allows you to spread the cost of your car into affordable monthly repayments. There are several types of car finance available for old cars including hire purchase and personal contract purchase. With hire purchase (HP), the loan is secured against the car and you won’t own it until you’ve finished making all your repayments and paid the ‘Option to Purchase’ fee. Personal contract purchase (PCP) gives you more options at the end of your agreement: you can hand the car back, use any positive equity as a deposit in a new deal, or buy it by paying the balloon payment. Monthly repayments are often lower with PCP so you may be able to afford a newer car with this type of finance.

When buying an older car, you can expect there to be some wear and tear so it’s important to carry out checks. These should include looking over the car’s exterior and interior, looking under the bonnet, checking over the paperwork, and taking a test drive.

If I found a car at a particular dealership would you be able to help? Or do I have to settle with what you can find?

Asked by Paafio Agyeman
November 5, 2011

Hi Paafio, as we supply the car and the loan we can't finance cars from other dealers. However, we have over 500 cars to choose from in group stock and i'm sure we'll be able to cater for your needs. What car is it you're interested in? Rachel

Hi, I was wondering if I was allowed car finance but didn't want to sign anything.

I was wanting to know if I could see the deal first before I do anything? £4000 for an old BMW.

Asked by Dougie Mcmillan
November 5, 2011

Hi Dougie, our quotes are no obligation so you can apply and get approved and then it's down to you to decide whether you want to go ahead.

How old is the BMW you're looking at as some lenders only finance cars that are 7 to 8 years old maximum and they can't have done more than 100,000 miles.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

Hi there, can you arrange a loan so I can buy a specific car from a local garage. I have bad credit and also have a part exchange. I'm also nervous about putting in an application and damaging my credit score further as a result. Please help!!

Asked by Colin Bolam
November 5, 2011

Hi Colin - we've had a change in business direction recently and we can now allow you to choose your car from a dealer of your choice. We specialise in helping people with bad credit so i'd like to say we can help you out but i can't guarantee anything until we've seen your credit profile. Have you applied anywhere else online recently and if so where and what was the outcome? Regards, Rachel

Hello there, Please can you tell if you I can choose a car from any trader/dealer or does it have to be a dealer or car on your list? Thank you

Asked by Antony Quintin
November 5, 2011

Hi Antony, thank you for your question. We direct all of our approved customers to purchase a car from any reputable dealer in the UK.

A reputable dealer will be VAT registered, have their FCA interim or full permissions, have a forecourt with signage, a website and as a rule of thumb 15 cars plus. I hope this helps.

Please make an application when you're ready and if approved we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel
