Can i get car finance with an EU drivers licence?

Hi - I am a European citizen and have been in the UK for three and a half years and am on the electoral roll. I have a couple of credit cards and have had no problems with payments. However, i still have a European driving license. Is this a problem? Nick

Nick

Answer

Hi Nick, no this is not a problem. We have a few lenders who accept people with EU driving licences. As you will have a good to fair credit rating due to not missing any payments then we'll have a very good chance of getting you approved. How much finance do you require and do you have a part exchange or deposit to place into the deal? Can you also prove your income with payslips or bank statements if required? Kind regards, Rachel :-)

Sorry made a mistake on my question. My partner is on electoral roll and works for local authority. I've applied but it said amount of deposit but the form would not let me put my car as deposit.

Answer

Hi Steve, no problem. that's good news regarding your partner. Did you make a joint application with your partner on our site? If so, what is your reference number? Regarding your part exchange deposit - this can be discussed with a sales advisor :-)

Hello good morning, I would like to know if you finance drivers with an EU license. Me and my partner are thinking about Buying a mini cooper S, but we both have a European (Portuguese) license. I have only lived here since March, but my girlfriend is a UK resident since 2005 and a home-owner since 2006. Thank you.

Answer

Hi Ivo, we do help people with EU driving licences but as you have only recently moved to the UK the finance would have to be in your girlfriends name. Please get her to apply when she gets chance and we'll get you in that new Mini in no time :-)

Answer

Hi Agata. Thank you for your question. We can help people who have EU licences. It does limit the number of lenders we can get you approved with but it is not out of the question. Please make an application so we can try our best to place you with an appropriate lender. Thanks Rachel

Hi Rachel,my car failed MOT and I need to get another car asap, but have been turned down because of EU licence (32years accident free!), poor credit rating and I work part time (26 hours/week for Surrey County Coucil for 9 years!). I am so disappointed and really need a car to get to work, but dont seem to be credit worthy (I am also on the elct. roll), can you please help? Sincerely, Sonja G

Answer

Hi Sonja, we may be able to help you. We do deal with lenders who will finance customers with EU licence. Being part time does make it a little more difficult however it is not out of the question. The best thing to do is just to apply so we can see what we can do. Would you have anyone else to go on the application with you? Kind regards
